Introducing ThermalHeart+®

Did you know 35-50% of a home’s heat is lost from its windows and doors?

Introducing ThermalHeart+®, a range of code-meeting, industry-leading, thermally efficient products designed and made right here in New Zealand for exactly how we live.

ThermalHeart+®️ components

The ThermalHEART® polyamide barrier insulates the frame of the window system, separating warm and cold areas. Using clean, modern lines, these frames provide high performance in extreme weather conditions.  ThermalHEART® frames deliver almost double the thermal performance of standard aluminium windows and doors1

High performance glass

Glass can enhance the way your home looks and feels, but it also adds to the warmth and thermal efficiency of your home. Using high performance glass with low emissivity (Low-E) coating can reduce heat loss in winter and over-heating in summer. It protects your home's interior while providing a similar clarity to clear glass.

The Centrafix™ installation method recesses the joinery into the building wall, aligning the insulation elements - wall, window frame, glazing – to prevent cold air from circulating around the frame. This New Zealand designed innovation increases the thermal performance in your home by over 20%(see here for technical details).

1 Comparison figures are based on complete thermal modelling of an average house lot of Metro Series ThermalHEART® products with The AGP System™ double glazing using the WEERS modelling methodology. The benchmark figures were calculated by modelling the same average house lot of products using the equivalent non-thermally broken products glazed with standard double glazing. A “standard aluminium window or door” refers to a non-thermally broken aluminium frame with standard double glazing.

2 Centrafix™ comparison figures are based on complete thermal modelling of an average house lot of products installed in 90mm timber framing. The standard installation benchmark was calculated by modelling the same house lot of comparable products using a typical E2/AS1 cavity construction installation on 90mm timber framing.

If thermal efficiency is among your top priorities, Klima® is a smart bet

Based on a premium series from Europe by Kömmerling and designed and manufactured in New Zealand to suit Kiwi conditions, Klima® is the ultimate energy-efficient window and door solution. From November 2023, the minimum insulation requirements for cooler climate zones increased to the final performance requirements, as outlined in the H1 Clause of the New Zealand Building Code. Klima® exceeds the highest standard for each zone, so you can feel confident knowing you’re ahead of the game.

Key features of Klima® include:

  • A maximum 6 energy stars under WEERS (Window Energy Efficiency Rating System) when used with high performance glazing
  • State-of-the-art multi chamber design
  • Seamless welded corners for extra strength
  • Super thick profiles for maximum thermal insulation, high quality weather resistance, and strength in high wind zones
  • Available in a standard range of windows and doors, with the exception of a bi-fold format
  • Aligns with standard industry installation practices for ease of installation
Why choose Klima®?
  • Thermal efficiency – a thermally efficient home can be cheaper to warm compared to one built to code

Colour Selection Tips

  • For a joinery colour that complements the house cladding it is common to choose a tone a few shades up or down from the cladding colour
  • Choosing the same colour as the house can give a very clean look, especially in white or cream tones
  • Remember, however, that the colour of joinery you choose now may limit options in the future if you want a change of house colour
  • Contrasting joinery colours are popular and darker natural tones, silver and black are often chosen
  • Dark or black joinery against a light coloured house, especially in a plaster finish, can look very sharp and attractive
  • Matching the joinery colour to the roof or fascia for a unified look is also popular
  • It is important to remember that the joinery colour impacts on the inside view and so can influence interior colour schemes. A good option can be to choose a neutral joinery colour that preserves flexibility for interior selections e.g white, cream, grey, taupe, black or silver
  • Consider the environmental and site conditions of your property and ensure that the powdercoat product you choose is fit for purpose
  • When you make your final colour selection, use an aluminium colour swatch and assess it in natural light.

Revitalise your home with new windows and doors

Are your windows and doors are letting in a draught, not locking properly, water damaged, noisy, or not as aesthetic as you'd like?

Whether you're undertaking a full home renovation or prioritising changes to your home that will have the biggest impact, updating the windows and doors in your existing home is a proven way to increase the comfort, aesthetics, and value of your home.

Say goodbye to the poor performance and on-going maintenance of your aging joinery. New windows and doors can change the way light, sound, and fresh air move in and out of your home.

When it comes to upgrading the windows and doors in your home, there are two options we can custom make for your needs, each with their own benefits.

Update Options

Replacement windows and doors

Replacement windows and doors

Existing joinery is removed entirely and a new window or door and framing structure is installed allowing you to completely change the colour, style and configuration.

Replacement windows may be a good option if:

  • You’d like to completely change the size and shape of your windows and doors
  • Your window frames or sills are in poor condition or show signs of rot
Insert windows

Insert windows

In this method, a new window is inserted into the existing timber window frame allowing you to update the colour and configuration of your windows while retaining the character of your home with minimal disruption to your home.

Insert windows may be a good option if:

  • Your wooden joinery is a bit draughty, stiff to open and close but in reasonable condition
  • You’d like to retain the existing character of your house
  • You’d like to improve the function and thermal performance of your joinery

Update for a warmer, healthier, more efficient home

Updating your windows and doors is an opportunity to bring the thermal performance of your joinery up to current building code standards and enjoy a healthier home.

A healthy home is warm, comfortable, and cost efficient to run with minimal impact on the environment, not to mention your family will experience greater wellbeing and productivity.

In order to achieve a healthy home, thermally efficient design and product choice are important; consider thermally efficient windows and doors like:
